Guiding Principles:
- Provide access to the best treatments and cures.
- Open an ethic of innovation to improve the lives of all Americans.
- Make access to the best healthcare affordable.
- Demand transparency in the healthcare system, from the science to the prices paid by consumers.
Millions of people travel from all over the world to utilize the free market American health care system that prioritizes patient care over government mandates. Our deep bench of medical research and innovation have powered countless breakthroughs and advances, including the COVID-19 vaccine that led to the re-opening of a global economy faster than anyone envisioned. The long waiting times and lack of patient control associated with the nationalized forms of health care in the United Kingdom, Canada and much of Western Europe, fortunately, remains little more than a pipedream for the progressive left here in the United States.
Yet while quality and access to care remain unmatched, reforms are needed to bring down costs. Unexpected medical bills rank as the top financial worries for adults and their families. Many of these soaring price tags are driven by pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), big pharmacies, and other middle agents who not only wield enormous amounts of control but are using their power to drive up costs, restrict access to medicine and consolidate price savings from consumers to line their own pockets. We will fight for common sense policies that break down barriers, increase transparency and lower medical costs for consumers – especially in the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
