Bobby R. Burchfield is a Professorial Lecturer in Law at The George Washington University Law School and retired courtroom lawyer. Before retiring, Bobby tried cases to judges and juries and argued appeals throughout the country, arguing two important First Amendment cases in the Supreme Court of the United States. As a senior partner at three AmLaw 100 law firms, Bobby served as lead counsel in C-suite and Board level disputes involving antitrust, class action, regulatory, constitutional, and complex commercial issues. He also represented officeholders and political parties in constitutional and election cases. In a career spanning more than four decades, Bobby never lost a jury trial, and was highly rated by Chambers Partners, Benchmark Litigation, Best Lawyers in America, and other services.
Bobby graduated from Wake Forest University (BA in Economics and Politics, 1976) and The George Washington Law School (JD 1979), was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, and clerked for Judge Ruggero J. Aldisert of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He served as General Counsel to President George H.W. Bush’s reelection campaign, on the Antitrust Modernization Commission by appointment of President George W. Bush, and as Independent Ethics Advisor to the Trump business during the Trump Administration.
