Trusted AmFree leader named new president and CEO of American Trucking Association, leading national voice and trade association for the U.S. trucking industry since 1933
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rob Engstrom, President of the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce (AmFree Chamber), today issued the following statement on the appointment of Mark Colson, a member of the AmFree Chamber Advisory Council, as the next President and CEO of the American Trucking Association (ATA):
“The interests of ATA’s more than 37,000 members and the entire industry are in tough, trusted, capable hands with Mark at the helm, and I want to congratulate my friend of nearly 20 years on this well-deserved appointment. As a leading member of the AmFree Chamber’s Advisory Council, Mark has been a steadfast ally in our push to roll back crippling electric vehicle mandates, and in support of common-sense policies that advance American energy dominance. The recent rise of diesel prices has brought the importance of the trucking industry to the forefront of the minds of many Americans — a reminder that it is truckers who keep our shelves stocked, our factories running, and everyday goods moving. Mark understands that a free and competitive trucking sector is foundational to American prosperity, and AmFree Chamber looks forward to continuing our collaborations in its defense.”
Mark Colson has served as President and CEO of the Alabama Trucking Association since 2019 and joined the AmFree Chamber Advisory Council in March 2025. He previously held senior leadership roles at the Business Council of Alabama, including Interim President, Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs, and Chief of Staff.
