When Elected Officials Cannot Bring Themselves To Reject An Ideology That Has Inflicted A Trail Of Human Misery, They Are Being Reckless
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rob Engstrom, President of the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement after all but eight House Democrats opposed a resolution condemning socialism on Tuesday evening:
“The refusal of nearly the entire House Democratic Caucus to condemn socialism should alarm every American who values freedom and opportunity. Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried, producing poverty, shortages, and oppression. Yet too many on the left still treat it as a legitimate vision for our future. That is not idealism. It is historical amnesia. When elected officials cannot bring themselves to reject an ideology that has inflicted a trail of human misery, they are being reckless. The American people deserve leaders who will defend the system that made this country the envy of the world, not ones who flinch when asked to condemn the alternative.”
