“Legally flawed, economically ruinous, and technologically biased, these Obama-era rules are designed to achieve one goal: forcing a nationwide transition to electric vehicles while suffocating superior, more cost-effective, and lawful solutions”

Washington D.C.  – Today, the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce (AmFree Chamber) submitted comments supporting the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) efforts to roll back an Obama-era “endangerment finding,” which the federal government has used to justify misguided vehicle emissions regulations, including the Biden administration’s unprecedented nationwide electric vehicle mandate, that have cost trillions of dollars since 2009. EPA estimates that a repeal of the finding would lead to a decrease in net societal costs of over $8 trillion—saving the U.S. some $440 billion per year.

The comments are available here.

Urging EPA to finalize this proposal and adopt a “belt and suspenders” approach to repealing electric vehicle mandates, AmFree Chamber calls for the adoption of “technology-neutral policies that cost-effectively enable emission reductions, rather than picking winners and losers.”

“Legally flawed, economically ruinous, and technologically biased, these rules are designed to achieve one goal: forcing a nationwide transition to electric vehicles while suffocating superior, more cost-effective, and lawful solutions,” said Bill McGinley, president of the Center for Legal Action (CLA), the litigation component of AmFree Chamber. “Under the leadership of President Trump, EPA’s proposal to rescind the Endangerment Finding and the EV mandates is a long-overdue and welcome course correction. We urge EPA to stay the course, finalize the repeal, and pursue all other legal avenues to stop the forced electrification of the American motor vehicle fleet, strengthen American energy security and unshackle entrepreneurs from a slew of environmental red tape.”

AmFree Chamber was joined in the comments by the Illinois Corn Growers Association and the Missouri Corn Growers Association.
